TGIF! Encourage yourself Family!

30 And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way.So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. And David's two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. 1 Samuel 30:1-6 (KJV)
Mercy! When everything and everyone was against David and he was "greatly distressed" with "no more power to weep"  he chose to encourage himself in the Lord. Read on and see how God gave David victory over his enemies.  Family, sometimes you need to encourage yourself.
Whatever you are facing to may face, Listen and let the words of this song (lyrics below) encourage your Spirit today.
Loving and praying for each of you,Your sister, Keturah.
Lyrics:
Verse 1:
Sometimes you have to encourage yourself.
Sometimes you have to speak victory during the test.
And no matter how you feel,
speak the word and you will be healed;
speak over yourself,
encourage yourself in the Lord.

Verse 2:
Sometimes you have to speak the word over yourself,
the pressure is all around,
but God is present help.
The enemy created walls,
but remember giants, they do fall;
speak over yourself,
encourage yourself in the Lord.

Bridge:
As I minister to you, I minister to myself,
life can hurt you so,
'til you feel there's nothing left.
(No matter how you feel),
(speak the word and you will be healed).

Vamp 1:
Speak over yourself.

Vamp 2:
I'm encouraged.
I'm encouraged.
I'm encouraged.
I'm encouraged.

Eyes to See, Ears to Hear

But rather what we are setting forth is a wisdom of God once hidden [from the human understanding] and now revealed to us by God . . . None of the rulers of this age or world perceived and recognized and understood this, for if they had, they would never have crucified the Lord of glory. But, on the contrary, as the Scripture says, What eye has not seen and ear has not heard and has not entered into the heart of man, [all that] God has prepared (made and keeps ready) for those who love Him [who hold Him in affectionate reverence, promptly obeying Him and gratefully recognizing the benefits He has bestowed]. Yet to us God has unveiled and revealed them by and through His Spirit.

One thing used to puzzle me very much about the children of Israel. They saw the miracles Moses performed. They witnessed the ten plagues that destroyed crops, animals, and firstborn sons and yet never touched any of them in the land of Goshen. They stood at the Red Sea and watched the waters part, and later looked back to see the Egyptians drown. They experienced miracle after miracle for forty years.

I used to ask: Why didn’t they believe? They personally watched signs and miracles take place, but they remained unbelievers. Except for Joshua and Caleb, every adult who watched God at work in Egypt died before the waters parted at the River Jordan.

One day as I read this passage, the answer became obvious. We don’t understand God through natural eyes or human reasoning. We understand God only when we’re aided by the Holy Spirit. Those Israelites in the wilderness saw miracles, but they never experienced God. They saw the miracles at work, but they never grasped God Himself.

That’s the message Paul presents to us. He says God has prepared us—those who believe and obey—and He “unveiled and revealed” (v. 10) spiritual realities through the Holy Spirit. Another way to say this is that as long as we look only at events and facts but see nothing behind them, we don’t have eyes to see and ears to hear.

That’s where Satan works best. He tries to keep us blind and deaf so that we don’t recognize the Spirit of God at work. For example, in a worship service, someone prays for a woman who is in great pain and she’s healed. Those with eyes to see and ears to hear, immediately praise the Lord. Those who are still held by the devil’s cunning lies say, “Oh, it was all psychosomatic. There was nothing really wrong with her.”

I learned long ago that it did no good to argue with the spiritually blind and try to convince them to see God at work. Until the Holy Spirit enlightens them, they can never grasp the power of God at work in human lives. Only those who have been enlightened by the power of the Holy Spirit can truly grasp spiritual realities. To those who love Him and believe, God reveals spiritual truths. He assures those who have understanding that the Holy Spirit is at work. As the Spirit works in us, we gain power over every trick of the devil to blind us again.

God Gives Mercy Because God Is God

Shalom Family in Christ,

"And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: For the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath. Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token: And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death." (Joshua 2:11-13)

Rahab was a sinner saved by God's grace. She had been a godless woman living in a godless city, Jericho. One day, two spies from the children of Israel came to see Rahab's city, because their leader Joshua had told them to. God was going to help the children of Israel fight and take over the whole city of Jericho.

Of all the houses the spies could have visited, they visited Rahab's. Rahab had a bad reputation. She had done many bad things, and she was a low woman in her city.  Rahab took the spies in and protected them from the leaders of Jericho who came searching for them. She helped the spies, showing them kindness, and gave them guidance for how to escape. Do you know why?

All the people of Jericho had heard about the children of Israel and what their God had done for them. They had heard about how God opened up a dry path through the Red Sea so the Israelites could cross in safety, and then how the Egyptian army was drowned when they followed them and God brought down the waters on them. The people of Jericho had also heard about how God fought with the Israelites. And the people of Jericho were scared that they would be next.

Was Rahab like the rest of her people? Was she scared of the children of Israel and their God? Yes! So why did she show kindness to Israelite spies? Rahab was not just scared of God. She believed in Him. She believed that the God of the Israelites was the one true God, everywhere and over all.

Rahab believed God, and she feared Him. But in spite of her fear, she had the faith to ask for goodness and mercy and deliverance from death. Based on what she knew of the Israelites' God, based on all that He had already done, she asked for mercy for herself and her family. The Israelite spies agreed. They promised that when they came to take over Jericho, they would protect anyone who was in her house.

Even though Rahab knew she was a sinner who did not deserve mercy, she asked for help from the only ones who could help her. She was not asking for mercy based on all the things that she had already done. How could she? But she knew enough about God and all the things He had done. She could ask for mercy, in spite of herself and in spite of her fear, because she trusted that He was the kind of God Who shows mercy to people who turn to Him.

God is the kind of God Who shows mercy to undeserving people like me, who call upon Him for help. I'm nothing without him, spiritually bankrupt and empty. Today we look to the heavens and cry out to the Alpha (the first; beginning) and the Omega (the last; the end) and ask for mercy he is Alive for Evermore.

Revelation 1:18 – "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."

My Response:
» Am I trusting in the God of the Bible, or in myself?
» On what basis can I hope to have mercy from God – based on my own good deeds? based on how well I pray?
» How can I show by my actions that my faith is placed in the one true God?

Be Still and Know (Video)

Blessings Family!

This week, continue to spend quality time alone in God's presence, with a scripture, a song, or a praise.  Know that as we draw near to Him, He indeed will draw near to us! Any relationship falters when quality time is not fostered.  Our relationship with Holy Spirit is no different.  May we be still long enough to know Him more this week!

For thus the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said, "In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength." Isaiah 30:15

Invitation to participate in Sabbath FAST starting tonight

TGIF K- Lifers -

This Sabbath our gathering will be themed around Healing Rain - and prayer and (voluntary) fasting are recommended to support this process.  We recognized that there is much to be seriously prayed about and we expect to experience the Holy Spirit's comfort, deliverance and empowerment in a fresh and mighty way!

For those of you planning to participate in the fast this Sabbath or new to the concept of fasting, some helpful tools are attached to help you prepare physically, mentally and spiritually for Individual and Group Fasts.  We will be breaking the fast with a scrumptious "soup kitchen" after the time of prayer tomorrow afternoon.

Shabbat Shalom

After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, "Why couldn't we drive it out?"
--He said to them, “This sort cannot come out by anything except by fasting and by prayer.”

The Blessing Day 5 (Video)

David was a man who walked through trouble on a regular basis. His psalms express the struggles and disappointments he faced, yet in the end, he always turned his focus back to God. The key to his victorious attitude was his strong faith in the Lord.
Psalm 138:7-8

David was a man who walked through trouble on a regular basis. His psalms express the struggles and disappointments he faced, yet in the end, he always turned his focus back to God. The key to his victorious attitude was his strong faith in the Lord.

David was confident in God's purpose. That's why he could say, "The Lord will accomplish what concerns me" (v. 8). The only way we can walk through trouble and not be defeated is by keeping our focus on the Lord and His purpose. He has promised to do a good work in our lives, but sometimes the only way He can complete it is in valleys of hardship.

David relied on the Lord's power. When troubles arise, we, too, can trust God to deliver us, but it may not be by escape. Sometimes He sustains us through the difficulty, walking with us every step of the way.

David believed the promises of God. Throughout these two verses, he repeatedly reminds himself what the Lord will do. We also need to have some specific promises from Scripture that will anchor us in times of trouble. The truths of the Bible are our most valuable possession when the storms of life assail us. Self-reliance or advice from others will never equal the help God's Word offers us.

God assumes responsibility for accomplishing what concerns you in times of trouble. Your job is to believe that He will fulfill His purpose, His power is adequate, and He'll keep every promise. When the trial has achieved His goal, He'll remove it. Until then, keep walking with your eyes on Him.

The Blessing Day 3 (Video)

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Family,

We may question where is God when it hurts, when we go through seasons of trial, grief, loss, and pain...and I'm so glad that the Word of God, our foundation, provides is with the answer we need. We may never find out why we go through, but we are assured of where God is when we go through.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.  John14:6

Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:18

The truth is, God puts His blessing, His favour,  on the broken....and He brings us comfort through His Presence, through His promises, and through His people--the family of God and those whom we love-or may not even know!  Beloved, we are all going to go through...but what is amazing about our God is that while we go through---His blessing is on you!  By faith, receive His blessing today.  This song should be familiar to some of you :)

Shalom

The Blessing Day 2 (Video)

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3

Three weeks ago a young man named Dennis spoke at our weekly gathering. He shared how he is at a point where he has no ego, where he was willing to go wherever God wanted him to go to share his story and testimony for God's glory.  Ego (Edging God Out) plays such a huge factor in stunting and hindering our Christian journey. Often we can care more about what others think of us than what God desires from us.

As we realize how dependant we are on God's grace, and that it only is in him that we live, move, and have our being, ego becomes replaced by humility and availability---the mind of Christ. Not my will, but your will be done.  There is a blessing for those who are willing to be poor in spirit, who is willing to say daily "Lord, I'm nothing without you".  Is that blessing on you today?  Like a child is totally dependent on their parent for food, clothing and daily provision, may we be totally dependent on our Heavenly Father today

Be Blessed!

Contentment

"…for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances"
Philippians 4:11

Have you ever noticed how overextending yourself tends to bring unwanted pressure into your life? I think we tend to busy ourselves in order to gain more, find acceptance among peers, land a better position, and gain riches of all kinds. Perhaps we live under the illusion that having such riches is what makes a person complete, content, and deliriously happy. Yet, when we discover that's not the case, we're left feeling empty and discontent.

Contentment and security are not found in career titles or in the kind of car we own. The logo on our car only tells others what kind of car we drive — not who we are. True satisfaction, in its purest form, is found in the wealth of who God is and the riches He graciously lavishes upon us.

The pressure to have more and do more can lead us down paths we never intended. In our attempt to fill the vacuum of our empty souls, we discover that external luxury is only a cheap substitution for spiritual wholeness. As our key verse points out, Paul knew the secret of finding contentment. "…for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances". Take note that Paul wrote these words in a high stress situation as he sat in jail awaiting a verdict for a crime he didn't commit. I don't know if I could find contentment if I were in his sandals. I would probably strum my wooden cage with a rock singing pitifully, "Nobody knows the trouble I've seen. Nobody knows my sorrow." Finding contentment doesn't mean we have to like our current situation, but it may require an appreciation for it. Let me explain.

Paul learned that the fruit of contentment is developed when we are thankful for what God has provided whether we like it or not. That's because peace isn't the absence of pressure. It's the presence of God and our attitude toward His provision in the midst of our stress. By expressing gratitude, Paul experienced richness of being, not having.

I realize you may be in a hard place right now and you're longing for freedom. Maybe you're in a job that feels like a dead end; perhaps you have two of them! It may be that you live in a space too small for your
family and you hate it. You're not where you planned or hoped to be and you certainly don't like it.
The truth is, we don't have to like where we are or what we have, but if we will choose to thank God for His provisions regardless of our feelings toward them, we'll experience the same contentment Paul encountered.

We must understand that being thankful doesn't mean that God will eventually remove us from our situation. He may; He may not. Rather, being appreciative sets us free from the desire to have and lets us rest in the riches of contentment. And when we reach a place of contentment, we don't need earthly riches galore. God becomes our greatest treasure. In Him, we have everything we need.

Father God , I'm grateful for what You've provided for me. I want to be  be truly contented in Your blessings.

Bankruptcy to Blessing

Good morning Klife friends & fam

The word from our gathering this past week is still stirring in my heart.  As we prepare our hearts for this week, let's take the time to be immersed in God's Word, Walk in His love, and filled by His Spirit.  We are all facing the possibility bankruptcy in different ways, whether it be spiritual apathy, broken relationships, ego, hurt, loss, unforgiveness,  disbelief and doubt, distraction, negativity...and the list goes on and on.  But God our Father is never bankrupt, Hallelujah!

2 Peter 1:3
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvellous glory and excellence.

Each day we will be meditating on a text or passage with along with a song as we pray,  prepare and believe for God's blessing.  Today's text is

"How blessed are those who are hungry and thirsty for righteousness, because it is they who will be satisfied! Matthew 5:6

Lord, Today, may we be hungry, be thirsty for more of your presence in our lives above all other desire's...and may we Be Blessed with Your provision...Amen.

My mouth

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer." - Psalm 19:14 NIV

A friend and I had a conversation a few days ago.... immediately, we started talking about what had been going on in our lives and dug into a discussion about life in general. Just a few minutes into our catch-up session, a person's name {who I didn't care for} came up. My friend told me a story that made me got heated towards this person even more. I then told my friend a story about this same person that made him even more heated towards this person....... and so our conversation went......

When we finished talking, there was a sick feeling inside me. My thoughts wandered through our conversation and I felt deeply convicted it'd been nothing but idle talk. I thought I was just catching up with an old friend but the reality is, it was idle talk. But I tries consistently to find myself in need of God's grace, mercy and forgiveness.

Today's key verse, Psalm 19:14 , has been helpful for me to remember how God desires my heart and words to be filled with things that honor Him.

The Scripture is teaching me so much about my words...
  • I'm learning that I am accountable to God for them (Matt. 12:36 NIV).
  • I see that by guarding my words, I can keep myself from a lot of problems (Prov. 21:23 NIV).
  • I'm understanding how I have the ability to speak life or death through the words I use (Prov. 18:21 NIV).
As I've been allowing these Truths to shape my character, I've begun to understand how my slip-ups (sin) move me further away from God. One of the greatest deceptions of sin is that we often don't realize what we've done until it's too late.

But thankfully God is always willing to forgive us and empower us to become stronger in Him.

So how should we handle conversations like these? Preventing: gossip is one of the greatest ways to not get caught up in it. Some days I have to consciously say to myself, "I don't want to dishonor anyone with my words today." I've asked God to make me aware of conversations that don't bring honor. "A prudent man keeps his knowledge to himself, but the heart of fools blurts out folly." (Prov. 12:23 NIV)

Another way we can handle gossip-centered conversations is by ignoring them. Just because we've heard the latest juicy scoop doesn't mean we have to continue to spread it. "A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret." (Prov. 11:13 NIV)

I'm still working through this. I felt horrible for how my conversation went that day. But, I'm challenged to prevent, ignore or confront conversations like these. I want my words and my heart to be pleasing to God, so please pray for me as i pray for myself and others.

Dear Lord, as I continue to work out my word-struggles with You, thank You for Your grace, mercy and forgiveness. Please help me to keep these Truths close to my soul so I can better represent You with my words each day. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

Perfect life?

Can a Christian become perfect in this life?  No, because Christians must still fight against the flesh. But even though a Christian cannot gain perfect freedom from all sin in this life, increasing Christlikeness and fellowship with Christ should be his goal. Romans 7:21 – "I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me."

Jesus Is the Author and Finisher of our Faith

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds." (Hebrews 12:1-3)

How much more should we meditate on the greatness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the great truth that He authored (began) it and will keep on finishing it (bringing it to completion) with every passing day! What a great Creator and Savior we have in the Lord Jesus Christ!
The whole plan of redemption begins and ends with Jesus Christ!

My Response:» Do I spend much time thinking about what Jesus is able to do?
» What does Jesus' "authoring" and "finishing" of the faith mean to me?
» Does Jesus Christ finish the good things He begins? Has He begun a good thing in my heart?

Keep the faith Brothers and Sisters, he is coming soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RECAP Moment: No Condemnation NOW!

Perhaps one of the best things about the Gospel of Christ is the assurance that "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."
Religion says "Stop sinning so you can be forgiven."
Christ came to show "You are forgiven, so stop sinning."
Religion warns "You will get the punishment you deserve"
Christ has shown "I will give you the grace you do not deserve"
Religion offers "unrelentless heaps of humiliation"
Christ offers "unconditional oceans of love"
Religion condemns.
Christ cleanses!

No matter where you have been, what you have done, or how badly others tell you that you have messed up - look to Christ who offers new hope, new life and freedom from condemnation - right now! Today hear the love behind Chirst's words to a woman caught in adultery and condemned to death: "I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more." John 8:11

Kingdom Living Challenge:
This week think about someone who needs this message and pass this good news on.
