Do you remember what it meant to you to see the sun shining after a severe storm had passed? Do you remember how it felt to see the light of day dawning after a fearful night?
Suddenly you could believe again that all would be well.
Light does that. It restores our faith, lifts our spirits, and gives us a fresh burst of hope where there was none before.
Nothing dispels the darkness so quickly. Nothing draws us so instantly out of our defeat and despair.
It is no coincidence, then, that Jesus called himself the light of the world. Restorer, Lifter, Dispeller - He is all this and more.
Because of Him, fear does not have the last word; the darkness does not win. So go ahead, lift your head. Your Joy has come.
Lord, you are my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear?
Amen
New International Version (NIV)
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid?
New International Version (NIV)
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
